Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Group
Welcome
The Generative AI Group a joint initiative or COVESA and ECLIPSE SDV brings together automotive industry leaders, tool vendors, and technology providers to shape the future of AI-assisted automotive development.
Our mission is to make Gen AI tooling interoperable, standardized, and accessible across the entire automotive V-model—from requirements to homologation.
Why This Matters
Generative AI is transforming how we develop automotive systems. But today, most tools still work in isolation. AI assistants can't seamlessly collaborate across requirements management, modeling, testing, and validation tools.
We're changing that.
By establishing open standards for Gen AI tool integration—based on protocols like Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent-to-Agent (A2A)—we're enabling a connected ecosystem where AI agents can work together throughout the development lifecycle.
What We Do
🤝 Bring the Ecosystem Together
We facilitate collaboration between OEMs, suppliers, tool vendors, and AI platform providers to create shared standards that benefit everyone.
📋 Define Service Capabilities
We document what capabilities Gen AI tools should expose—from basic operations (create, read, update) to intelligent services (validation, conflict detection, suggestions).
💻 Build Reference Implementations
We create open-source templates and examples that tool vendors can adopt, accelerating the integration of Gen AI capabilities across automotive toolchains.
🔗 Ensure Standards Alignment
We align our work with established automotive standards like AUTOSAR, ISO 26262, and ASPICE, ensuring Gen AI integration supports safety and compliance requirements.
Our Approach
We organize our work around the automotive V-Model development stages:
Requirements Management - Making requirements smarter and more traceable
System Modeling - Enabling AI-assisted architecture design
Implementation & Coding - Supporting artefact (mech, el, sw) creation and unit testing
Integration & Validation - Enabling AI-assisted testing and failure analysis
Homologation - Streamlining certification and compliance workflows
For each stage, we follow a pragmatic three-phase approach:
Document real-world use cases from industry practitioners
Define service specifications that address those needs
Build working examples that demonstrate the value
